Before Class #
- Familiarize yourself with Zoom. This will be the primary webinar platform for Fall instruction at Rotman. Instructions on how to claim a University Zoom license and get set-up can be found here.
- Create your Zoom meeting at https://utoronto.zoom.us/Links to an external site. and share the join link with your students on your course page.
- When setting up your link, you will have the option to add alternative hosts (Just above the “Save” button). Please add your dual delivery moderator email addresses in this field. Their addresses are:
-
- sean.rogers@utoronto.ca
- Adding them to your meeting will allow whichever moderator is assigned to your class to start the session for online students.
- sean.rogers@utoronto.ca
- Share a Zoom meeting link with your moderator in Teams. Your moderator will need the link to start/join your class.
- Develop a contingency plan in the event your moderator is absent and an AV staff member steps in on their behalf.
- You may choose to meet with your moderator online or in-person in advance of your first class to discuss your teaching style and planned activities. This will help them to be better-prepared to assist.
- Preload all the files/apps you plan to show/use in screen-sharing during the lecture to facilitate seamless switching between activities.
- Read through this document for important dual delivery considerations.
During Class #
- Arrive a few minutes early to connect with your moderator and discuss plans for the class.
- Start the Zoom call. If you log in to Zoom on the podium computer, please use the SSO (Single Sign On) option highlighted below. Type in “utoronto” on the next screen. You will be taken to the University’s login page which asks for your UTORID and password.

- Check the “Use Dual Monitors” box in Zoom’s General settings:
- When the meeting is running, click the green shield in the top-left, and then the gear icon. Click “General” on the left and then check the “Use Dual Monitors” box.
- Start the recording. We recommend recording to the cloud. Note that cloud recordings will only be retained for 120 days and there is a storage capacity limit of 0.5GB. The benefit of recording to the cloud is that a transcript file will be generated along with the video. The recording and transcript can be downloaded to your computer and then uploaded to MyMedia for distribution on your course page. Recording locally (i.e. to your computer) will not generate a transcription file.
- When sharing content in Zoom, be sure to share the screen, not a specific app.
After Class #
- Share your recording link on your course page
- Follow-up with moderator on any learnings and future plans.
